Youth Classes
NO MATERIALS REQUIRED: we provide everything!
Intro Drawing and Painting
(5-9 year olds)
In this course, students will explore the visual arts and learn the value of self-expression. The projects and exercises help students gain an understanding of the elements and principles of art. Students will be introduced to several two-dimensional mediums of art including drawing, acrylic painting, and watercolor painting. No experience needed, all levels welcome!
Advanced Drawing and Painting
(12-17 year olds)
In this course, students will explore the visual arts and learn the value of self-expression. The projects and exercises help students build on their understanding of the elements and principles of art while practicing drawing, acrylic painting, and watercolor painting. Students will be challenged to curate their personal voices as artists and apply art mediums in new and exciting ways! This course is perfect for students who have taken Intro to Drawing and Painting and want to further their skills even more, although previous experience in my classes is not required.
Landscape Painting
(11-14 year olds)
In this course, students will explore painting beautiful natural landscapes in acrylic and watercolor paint. We will work on painting techniques, creating compositions, mixing colors, and more. The projects and exercises will help students gain an adequate understanding of the elements of art (color, form, line, shape, space, texture, and value) and the principles of art (balance, emphasis, harmony, movement, pattern, proportion, repetition, rhythm, unity, and variety). This course is perfect for students who have an interest in the natural world or students who have taken other art classes, such as Drawing and Painting, but want to hone their skills on a more specific topic.
Intermediate Drawing and Painting
(8-12 year olds)
In this course, students will explore the visual arts and learn the value of self-expression. The projects and exercises help students build on their understanding of the elements and principles of art while practicing drawing, acrylic painting, and watercolor painting. Students will be challenged to curate their personal voices as artists and apply art mediums in new and exciting ways! This course is perfect for students who have taken Intro to Drawing and Painting and want to further their skills even more, although previous experience in my classes is not required.
Intro to Mixed Media Art
(5-9 year olds)
Cutting and pasting, drawing and painting, watercolor and inking, tearing and collaging--the possibilities are endless. In this class, we will explore combining different mediums of art together in our pieces. Students will explore the visual arts and learn the value of self-expression through many mediums. The projects and exercises will build students' understanding of the elements of art (color, form, line, shape, space, texture, and value) and the principles of art (balance, emphasis, harmony, movement, pattern, proportion, repetition, rhythm, unity, and variety). Students will be introduced to a range of materials and mixed media techniques such as collage, watercolor, tissue paper work, paper sculpture, and so much more! The purpose of this class will be to learn, explore, and have fun! No art experience necessary, all levels welcome!
Watercolor Techniques
(11-14 year olds)
In this course, students will explore the exciting medium of watercolor and learn the value of self-expression. The projects and exercises will also help students build on a basic understanding of the elements and principles of art. By focusing only on the medium of watercolor, students will learn the ins and outs of this type of painting on a deeper level. Students will practice various watercolor techniques including but not limited to: washes, blending, layering, dry brush, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, crayon resist, gradation, splatter, and more! This course is perfect for students with an interest in watercolor or those who have taken previous art classes and want to further their watercolor skills even more.

Watercolor 101
The perfect art class for complete beginners! In this course, students will explore the exciting medium of watercolor, learn the value of self-expression, and most of all, have fun! The projects and exercises will also help you build a basic understanding of the elements and principles of art. By focusing only on the medium of watercolor, students will learn the ins and outs of this type of painting on a deeper level. We will practice various watercolor techniques including but not limited to: washes, blending, layering, dry brush, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, crayon resist, gradation, splatter, and more! No experience at all necessary, come as you are and leave with some awesome paintings!

Watercolor Coastal Landscapes
Cliffs, beaches, waves, sunsets, coastal vegetation, and more! In this course, students will explore the exciting medium of watercolor in the context of coastal landscapes. This class is perfect for nature lovers who want to refine their art practice or try a new subject to paint. A great course to take after Watercolor 101 or with any previous experience in using the medium. Although, interest in learning is all that is necessary so beginners are welcome as well!
